Abstract

A composite model is one where a physical model and a numerical model are both used in an integrated manner to provide the solution to a problem. Recent methods for the transfer of information between numerical and physical models have included methods for designing physical models using 2D numerical flow models and methods for incorporating physical model results into the next round of numerical modeling either by parameterization of the key process, by calibration of the numerical model or by applying an error correction scheme.
