Abstract
A research project is being carried out to compare the performance of different types of inhibitor for use with intake in reservoirs. Initially the threshold conditions under which vortices occur at a plain intake, have been measured: tests were then carried out on different types of inhibitor to determine the extent to which the threshold conditions were changed by the inhibitor. Once the most promising types have been identified, further tests will be carried out on them, to determine their optimum geometries.
