Abstract

This report reviews the methods presently available for the prediction of waves at a coast, with particular emphasis on techniques which can be used in real time. The interest in these techniques stems from the increasing awareness, in local district councils and regional water authorities, of the role of wave action in coastal flooding. This report review the possible techniques which might be of use, and recommends a method which minimises calculations in real time.
