Abstract
This report summarises the results of a programme of work designed to: (a) predict the hydraulic performance of certain engineering structures in rivers and their consequences to the environment; to optimise the design of the structures in terms of safety and economy. This involved the study of vortex inhibitors, the pressures associated with falling-jet energy dissipation and scour a large obstructions. (b) Improve techniques for the prediction of: non-cohesive sediment transport and general scour in river channels.
