Abstract
Wherever a drainage system is located, it is likely to include pumping mains for lifting wastewate from low-level areas or for conveying it to sewage works for treatment. In all cases a key requirement for the effective and economic design of a pumping system is reliable information on the flow resistance of pipes when carrying wastewater.
