Abstract
The Commission entailed a study of the hydraulic roughness of rivers and canals containing vegetation. It was appreciated that work on this topic has already been done elsewhere; the present investigation therefore covered: (i) literature survey, (ii) laboratory measurements, (iii) measurements in canals and natural rivers.
