Abstract

An experimental study was made of the factors governing the deposition of non-cohesive sediment in a 300mm diameter concrete pipe using 0.72mm sand. A formula was developed which can be used to estimate minimum velocities needed to prevent deposition of non-cohesive sediments in sewers. Full details of the study are given in Hydraulics Research Report SR221.
