Abstract
The project purpose is to improve integrated water resource management andstrategy formulation through improved assessments of multi-sectoral waterdemand, allocation and use. The project has been carried out by the InternationalDevelopment Group of HR Wallingford in collaboration with the Department forWater Development in Zimbabwe. This report provides a conceptual design specification for an Integrated Water Information Management(IWIM)system. The conceptual IWIM system is aimed at staff working in the Department for Water Development in Zimbabwe. Although the IWIM system has been developed with Zimbabwe in mind the conceptual system is applicable to other practitioners and professionals working in the field of water resources management in southern Africa. The system would provide appropriate multi-sectoral, temporal and spatial information on water demand, use and supply towater resource and catchment managers.
