Abstract

The United Kingdom has obligations under international conventions and the directives of the European Economic Community to control the pollution of the aquatic environment resulting from the discharge of dangerous substances. Legislative control of marine pollution from freshwater sources demand a more thorough understanding of the processes involved in the transmission of pollutants through a tidal estuary.
