Abstract

This report describes the first series of experiments undertaken in the newly commissioned Hydraulics Research Carousel. The Carousel is a 6m diameter circular flume designed to overcome the inability of conventional laboratory flumes to adequately reproduce the natural process of deposition from flowing water. The experiments were undertaken to examine the factors affecting the onset of deposition and in particular that of the concentration of suspended solids.
