Abstract

Sediment movement caused by waves and currents and the interaction of the two is one of the more salient features of estuaries and coasts. The undertaking of engineering works in such areas, for example the construction of breakwaters and docks or the dredging of shipping channels may radically affect this movement of sediment and such engineering works may also be significantly affected by sediment movement. The work should aid in the development of numerical models to predict the behaviour of sediment in estuary and coastal situations under the action of both waves and currents.
