Abstract

This report is a short review of the various types of Mathematical Modelling techniques that are available in the UK to simulate and predict the physical dispersal of sewage and trade effluents in tidal waters. The models are assessed in terms of their capability to predict the effect of effluents on Environmental Quality Standards and Environmental Quality objectives, with special reference to mixing zones.
