An assessment of two wave prediction models: Hindwave and Bristwave

Ewing, J.A. (1989) An assessment of two wave prediction models: Hindwave and Bristwave. Technical Report. Hydraulics Research Wallingford.

Abstract

An assessment is made of two deep water wave models which have been developed for a range of applications in coastal and offshore engineering. The model HINDWAVE was modified to account for shallow water effects using the concept of a self-similar spectrum. Model results are compared with wave measurements at three positions in the southern North Sea. The model BRISTWAVE was evaluated and compared with wave measurement at a deep water and a shallow water location and also against HINDWAVE.
