Abstract

The guidelines are designed for use by planners and water resource managers, extension services. They enable the users to: - Gain an understanding of the concepts involved in controlled drainage. - Assess the benefits and issues involved in implementing controlled drainage at a particular location. - Develop site-specific controlled drainage strategies to maximise water saving and crop yield improvements, whilst minimising negative impacts. - Carry out an economic assessment of the costs and benefits of controlled drainage at the farm and system level.
