Abstract

Field measurements were made at a vertical section near the centre of the River Taw estuary over a 12 hour period during a spring tide. Mean velocity profiles were measured within 1.40m from the bed. Instantaneous mean velocity components in the horizontal and vertical direction and instantaneous concentration of suspended solids with a median particle diameter in the order of 0.04mm were measured near the bed and at 0.95m and 1.40m above the bed, at which were also measured the mean concentration of suspended solids in the particle size ranging between 0.04mm and 0.25mm.
